I knew showers were incoming but I also knew the temp was nearly 60 degree and predicted to stay there. So I pulled on my favorite jeans and hoodie for mudding and went for a drive. I arrived at my chosen site just as it began to pour so I am glad I was already in my mudding gear. My favorite nikes are a white pair of AF-1 - Bronx Origins and while I really don't want to wreck them, they needed a good thorough washing inside and out so I decided to wear them into the mud on this day. It was a good solid downpour so I could begin to feel the water seeping through my clothes pretty quickly. I walked down the trail about 100 yards to the only big mud hole and jumped in. I kicked and splashed for a while until my white sock were covered in mud and my jeans were spattered up beyond my knees. After a few minutes of this, I sat down on the high part of the rut and enjoyed the damp sensation on my but. Then after a minute or so, I just slipped off the rut and into the deepest part of the mud hole on my backside. I grabbed some handfuls of mud and tossed them into the air letting them rain down all over me. Eventually I rolled over on my belly in order to climb out of the mud. But first, I had to just lay there for a while enjoying the sensation.

Anyway, after about 20 minutes in the rain, I headed back to my car. I changed into some dry clothes but it was raining so hard they were mostly wet by the time I finished changing. The the rain began to let up. Since I was half soaked all over again, I decided not to change sneakers. I keep the wet mud-soaked (formerly) white socks and put the soaked sneakers back on (after running around in my socks for a while). Finally I drove home and every so often and would wiggle my toes and feel the mud squelching in my wet socks and sneakers. I kept hearing the tune "Red red wine" as I was singing "Wet, wet socks" all the way home.
